Ever since Faye Dunaway bought one of Martin’s watercolours illustrating the living room of her Manhattan apartment in the early 1990s interior themes have been his favourite objets d’interet. At that time he was working as an illustrator for some of the most celebrated British interior designers. He was also engaged by an art restorer. Studying, sensing the Old Masters' works influenced artist’s personal technique. Martin had a rare privilege to visit some of the most important country estates. These experiences inspired a great body of work. The exquisite rooms  filled with unique, historically important furniture and their owners, whose  impeccable taste and manners often veil their darker side.
